Just a heads up, tomorrow (November 20) is the first day of regular hunting season in our region, which includes hunting with guns. Remember to be safe—wear bright colors and be aware of your surroundings. The FLRC Challenge Forest Frolic, Thom B, and Danby courses are all affected by this, as well as other local state forests and private land adjacent to the Black Diamond Trail. Per the DEC, regular hunting season lasts until December 12.

I was in a XC race in Virginia once in the middle of deer hunting season. Our race director recruited a fellow to fire his rifle as our starting gun. I have never been so incentivized to keep up with the pack. The fellow (Donal Day, Donal Day - Department of Physics, U.Va. ) who got us to the race won a pie. We worked as a team to eat it afterwards, probably bare-handed.

Just at Hammond today … saw at least 5 hunters and a dozen or so pick up trucks. Wear bright colors folx
