Congratulations to our own Mickie Sanders-Jauquet, who was named the Road Runners Club of America’s Outstanding State Representative in 2021. (FLRC is a member of RRCA.)
As RRCA’s New York State rep, Mickie field questions for New York clubs about RRCA memberships, coaching certifications, insurance, and use of the RRCA calendar. She encourages New York-based races to apply for RRCA national championships, several of which have been awarded to FLRC’s races, including the Hartshorne Memorial Masters Mile and the Finger Lakes 50s. And during the pandemic, she established regular Zoom-based meetings for New York club representatives to share ideas, experiences, and best practices.
In other words, as much as Mickie has been an active and essential member of FLRC, serving as a board member (and past president), directing Tortoise & Hare and Twilight, and organizing numerous group runs, among much else, she has done a lot to promote running elsewhere in our state too.
