Soliciting club documents, race shirts, and awards for FLRC’s archival collection at Cornell

The Finger Lakes Runners Club was founded in 1968, and to document some of that history, the club deposited a collection of historical documents, race shirts, and awards at Cornell’s Division of Rare and Manuscript Collections in 2010. Herb Engman and Lorrie Tily are now collecting additional items to add to the collection. Since records are now kept almost entirely in digital format, this may be the last submission of printed records. (We’re also aware of the need for digital preservation, such as with the FLRC Photo Library.)

If you have anything to contribute to the collection, now’s the time. Printed records must have a direct connection to FLRC—club newsletters, race entry forms, race results, etc. We assume other clubs and races will maintain their own records. We’re also interested in examples of race shirts and awards in good condition.

If you would like to contribute, please contact either:

Let us know if you have any questions.

Ian has my classic FLRC Ithaca to Marathon race tshirt at his store last I heard!

Here’s a fun thing, the library’s archive site was recently upgraded and this is the new link to the archival collection: https://archives.library.cornell.edu/repositories/2/resources/1495

Cool! And from there we can see which shirts they have in the collection already. Lots of room to add more.
