The weather is improving slowly, @Challengers, but between the rain, mud, heat, and a busy race calendar, our mileage is growing more slowly than in past years. We’re still nearly at 800 runs, with over 3800 miles. Some of those miles came from our eighth finisher, Lucia Chen, who’s also the first finisher from the @Thundering-30s team.
Tristan Lambert remains on deck with nine courses, and he has been joined by Mike Allinger and Melanie Smee, so perhaps one of them will claim a medal this weekend.
My favorite photo of the week goes to Scott Nissenson (left) and Laura Taylor (middle), who somehow convinced Laura’s visiting brother to tackle the Abbott Ascent course. In the rain, of course, though that doesn’t seem to have dampened their spirits.
Due to scheduling issues (and mud, let’s be honest), we don’t have an official FLRC Challenge group run this weekend, but if you want some company Saturday morning, Diana Hackett is hosting a general club group run on the South Hill Rec Way. Which won’t be muddy.
Also, remember that you can pick up a fast Lakefront Loops 5K time at next Tuesday’s Twilight 5K, which uses a slightly different course at Cass Park and the Treman Marina. Sign up over the weekend before the last-minute prices kick in.
Let’s get some more ground covered next week!
