I ran track and cross country when I was in high school and loved everything about it. After I graduated, I assumed that my track days were done for good. Only 5Ks from then on. And that was too bad, because I’m way better at short distances. My mile relay team was just a few tenths of a second too slow to make to the State Championships. I was the champion of our Regional Intermediate Hurdles, and will forever own my school’s track record for the low’s! Hehe! They don’t run them anymore. : )
The sprint videos I’d been watching on YouTube a few months ago inspired me to look into becoming a member of the USATF. Soon after I joined, I began getting emails inviting me to a track meet at Barton Hall. That was a huge surprise for me to think I could race so close to home. I attended that meet just to watch. As soon as I stepped into the hall I felt like I was home. It was a fabulous sight to see.
My ultimate goal is to run the 100 meter when I’m 100 years old. I’ll have plenty of time to practice. I’m only 67!
