I’m the diving coach at SUNY Cortland and previously also coached at
Cornell for 8 years when first moving to Ithaca from Miami.
I have started jogging and trying to get my endurance and base miles up enough to do a 5k. My last one here was after I got over a 5 year bout of plantar fasciitis through a procedure I had done for my chronic case. It took a year to be able to start running again after that. That was in 2009. Ever since I have tried to begin running again but the fasciitis got me on the other foot. I figured I could never run again. I went to every podiatrist and had Orthodics made, you name it, I tried it. I let running go and began cycling again in 2022 with the women’s group on the Fingerlakes cycling club.
By the way, I’m also a 4-time diving Olympian who represented my native Argentina on 4 Olympic teams. I came back after having been retired for 27 years to dive in Masters Diving in 2023. I competed in Japan at the masters World Championships and won my two individual events and just competed in Singapore at the World Masters Championships again winning 4 of my 5 events. You could say I’m very passionate about my sport.
I bought some Hokas a couple years ago and it seems that they are doing the trick for me. Knock on wood, I’ve been able to run again. So my goal is to do a 5k once again. I know my time may not be what it was in 2009, but I’m a bit older, lol. In my 20’s my best 5k time was a 20:21. I was annoyed as I was trying to break 20. I’d kill to break 30 minutes now!!
Anyways…….thats a bit about me.
