Looking for a Mother’s Day 5K? Register today for FLRC’s 2023 Women’s Distance Festival 5K, where women and girls of all ages run together along the flat and scenic Dryden Rail Trail. Held in memory of race cofounder Diane Sherrer, this event celebrates women’s running with a women-only race and walk. Younger runners may not even realize that women have not always been welcome in mainstream running events—it wasn’t until 1996 that the women’s 5K was added to the Olympics; the men’s 5K began in 1912.
