A beautiful day was had at Buttermilk for Tortoise and Hare

The 2025 Tortoise & Hare Trail Race took place at Buttermilk Falls State Park in Ithaca on Sunday, June 29. On perhaps the best weather day of the summer so far, 118 runners completed the 10K+ course, with participants ranging in age from 9 to 76 and hailing from California to Copenhagen! Plus, about 20 kids and parents finished the 1-mile fun run.

Full race results are now available, and you can add your photos from the day to our community photo album. Trail Circuit standings are also updated.

Christopher Petroff repeated as our overall winner with a time of 48:09, and Bella Burda took the top spot in the women’s division in 50:19. Sam Stoeltje was the top finisher in the nonbinary division in 1:24:27. Additional age-group winners included Tessa Makosch, Hailey Whetten, Nora McIver-Sheridan, Denise Calcagnino, Gillian Haines-Sharp, Ryan Jacobsen, William Sober, Kenny Makosch, Brian Lee, Michael Leonard, and Charles Leonard. Age-group winners enjoyed mini pies from Dolce Delight, with the overall winners also receiving a Sweet Melissa’s ice cream gift card.
