A new venue for outdoor track meets?

The news story about the new track that I liked was the Ithaca Times, where the president of IC said:

“[The new facility] is a vehicle for recruitment, but it is also about community, wellness and wholeness,” said Cornish in an interview with the Ithaca Times. “This facility is open to the Ithaca community, as well as to the Ithaca faculty staff and students. We want Ithaca College to be known as Ithaca’s College, and this facility is just another example of our commitment to being part of the community that we live in.”

We’ll see how things work out next year, though I’m currently deciding between having outdoor track meets at Ithaca High School, which has become significantly more welcoming of late, and Lansing High School, which also put in a new track this year.

One advantage of the IC track is 7-days bus service for those of use w/o vehicles and/or don’t want to bike up the hill before running. There is bus service to behind IHS but sporadic. And of course nothing to Lansing on the weekends.

We’re sensitive to transportation issues, but they don’t seem to be a significant limiting factor these days. We arrange carpools for many of our races, but they seldom attract any takers.

OK I guess my Dutchness makes me a public transport/bike fanatic. Anyway I live very near IHS if that comes to pass.
