Though it feels as though summer has only just started, we’re already halfway through the 2025 Trail Circuit! The weather has been kind to us so far, with Thom B. Trail Runs, Tortoise & Hare, and Lucifer’s Crossing blessed with beautiful sunny weather and (mostly) dry trails. This past weekend’s Finger Lakes 50s got a little too warm by the afternoon but our intrepid trail runners have been racking up some impressive times and mileages. Be sure to check out the dynamic leaderboard for the details, but here’s a little round up of the current runners and riders!
Stonehead
Sarah Woodyear is in the lead in the women’s competition, with 392.68 points and a 92.68 point lead over the field. Bella Burda is in hot pursuit with 300 points, with Trail Circuit legend Sarah Ridenour scoring 290.95 points to hold down third place - let’s see how this battle progresses!
The men’s competition is tighter at the top, with Christopher Petroff’s 400 points currently putting him ahead of last year’s winner Ryan Allen-Parrot (370.82) in second and Steve Jesch (339.26) in third.
Pebblehead
In the women’s Pebblehead, our Stonehead one and two are reversed: Bella Burda broke the course record for the 25K at FL50s on Saturday, and this has nudged her into the lead with 300 points to Sarah Woodyear’s 298.25. Julie Barclay moves up into third place with 242.87 points, but Pebblehead scores are based on each runner’s top three results of the season, so there’s plenty of room for challengers here.
Christopher Petroff is also leading the men’s Pebblehead, with his impressive series of wins giving him 300 points. 18-year-old Ryan Jacobsen is in second place with 288.09, and Ryan Allen-Parrot is hot on his heels with 282.38.
Boulderhead
The Boulderhead currently has Christopher Petroff and Steve Jesch tied with 96 points apiece after taking on the longest distances in our trail races so far. Robert Schmidt has moved into third place with 67.9 points, but there’s plenty of miles left this year for other runners to climb the leaderboard, so be sure to lace up those trail shoes and join the fun at our next four races:
- Forest Frolic - July 25th
- Forge the Gorge - August 7th
- Two Hollows Monster Marathon and Half Marathon - August 24th
- Danby Down & Dirty - October 11th
Our new Trail Circuit shirts are also proving to be very popular - these Patagonia shirts feature all our Circuit races and come in a lightly fitted women’s version or a straight cut unisex version. Order now through the FLRC merch site, or pick one up from the merch table at one of our races.
Don’t forget to pack your bug spray and sunscreen, and I’ll see you on the trails!
