Final call for Trackapalooza on July 18: AQI forecast improving!

Registration for Trackapalooza, FLRC’s summer track invitational, closes on Friday at 5 PM and there is no day-of-meet registration, so sign up now!

Thankfully, it looks like the AQI will improve on Friday evening.

The meet will take place at Ithaca High School on Saturday, July 18, beginning at 9 AM. We’re anticipating great races and looking forward to seeing new entries at the top of the FLRC Track leaderboard. All ages and abilities welcome!

We’re low on volunteers for a few key spots, specifically lane timers and field event (long jump, high jump, and throws) assistants. If you’re free, I’d really appreciate it if you could sign up for those slots.

We’ll once again have the LEMI massage students there providing free post-race massages!

Check the meet page for all the details, but here are the key bits:

  • Events: Choose from six individual running events, ranging from the 100m to the 5000m, high jump, long jump, triple jump, shot put, and discus. For experienced hurdlers, we’re adding the 100m hurdles for women and the 110m hurdles for men (thanks to the SOAR Running Club and the Groton Project for managing the field events). We’ll also have a 4x200m relay that you’ll sign up for at the meet.
  • Volunteer: If you’re not running or only want to do one event, please join our volunteer crew! We need more people, particularly field event helpers and timers for lane-based races (and we’ll love you for more than your thumb). Volunteers also get a brightly colored T-shirt and post-meet ice cream. To volunteer, please sign up in Helper Helper.
  • New to track? If you’ve never run a track meet before, or never run one of ours, check out our FLRC Racing: FAQs & First-Timer Guide. Additional questions? Just ask!
  • Registration: Our Webscorer registration system works well, but please follow the instructions on how to enter seed times correctly. Contact me if you need a new club or school team added to the menu.

Looking forward to seeing lots of you at the Ithaca High School track on Saturday!
