The FLRC Board of Directors will have its monthly meeting on Wednesday, February 12, at 6:15 PM via Zoom. All our meetings are open to the public, so if you’d like to attend, email board-meeting@fingerlakesrunners.org to receive the Zoom connection details via auto-reply (and let me know if you don’t get the auto-reply). The link is the same if you’ve previously requested it.
Our board meetings revolve around club and committee activity updates, including a report on the club’s financial position and quick coverage of past and upcoming races. This month, we’re being presented with a proposal for FLRC-discounted strength training for runners classes by Infinity Athletics, and our Communications Team is floating ideas surrounding a Couch to 5K program and an FLRC presence at the Ithaca Festival parade.
I open each board meeting with a quick acknowledgment of those who have gone above and beyond in volunteering for the club. This month, I want to thank Sarah Drumheller for coordinating not one, not two, not three, but FOUR Winter Chill 5K races in January, complete with a post-series party at the Hangar Theater. If you enjoyed Winter Chill, thank Sarah next time you see her. Also, it gives me great pleasure to thank Dave Kania and Eric Sambolec for putting on our Super Frosty Loomis snowshoe race after two years of cancellation due to lack of snow. Everyone had huge fun snowshoeing around the scenic trails of Hammond Hill State Forest, and it was great to bring Super Frosty Loomis back. Finally, special thanks to Tonya Engst for lots of help putting on the January Jicker track meet and even more setting up the Hartshorne Masters Mile while I was sick with COVID.
