The FLRC Board of Directors will have its monthly meeting on Wednesday, March 12, at 6:15 PM via Zoom. All our meetings are open to the public, so if you’d like to attend, email board-meeting@fingerlakesrunners.org to receive the Zoom connection details via auto-reply (and let me know if you don’t get the auto-reply). The link is the same if you’ve previously requested it.
Our board meetings revolve around club and committee activity updates, including a report on the club’s financial position and quick coverage of past and upcoming races. This month, we’ll look at the strength training clinic, and get updates on a possible First Aid training program, our Couch to 5K program, and an FLRC presence at the Ithaca Festival Parade. We’re also considering a proposal to develop a Track leaderboard that would collect all the track results that we have electronically, much like the FLRC Challenge and Trail Circuit leaderboards.
I open each board meeting with a quick acknowledgment of those who have gone above and beyond in volunteering for the club. This month, big thanks to Dave Diggin, the Ithaca College strength and conditioning professor who generously agreed to give a 90-minute clinic on the role of strength training for runners. Although he’s not a runner himself, Dave helps a number of local runners train and has volunteered at FLRC races.
