Friends of Hammond Hill fundraiser and trail work day on May 13th

Hey runners, snowshoers, hikers, and skiers! The Friends of Hammond Hill are having their annual fundraiser to bring in money to pay for trail work. (FLRC acts as their fiscal sponsor so donations are tax-deductible.) Trails require regular maintenance, especially given the more extreme weather caused by climate change, so if you’re a fan of the Hammond Hill trails, toss them a few bucks (he says, heading off to do just that).

Also, although the major trail work requires paying a contractor to come in with machines and buying material, the Friends of Hammond Hill are also having a volunteer trail work day on May 13th from 9 AM to noon. They suggest bringing bug repellent, work gloves, and your favorite hand tools. Special thanks to them for organizing this the week before our Thom B. Trail Runs—the course will be all the nicer for this work. If you’d like a chance to play with tools in the woods, put it on your calendar.
