Groton Labor Day 5K (9/4) and free Home Days Dash for kids (8/26)

Friend of FLRC Scott Weeks, who was instrumental in bringing throwing events and hurdles to our summer track meets, passes on two Groton events that I’d encourage Ithaca-area runners to check out. The Labor Day 5K is a particularly well-organized 5K and a great course through Groton streets and an old railbed.

The course follows village streets (2.5 miles), an old railroad bed (.5 miles), and finishes on the high school track. Some flat terrain, with a few steady inclines and declines, and one short, steep hill just before the mile.
