Gun Hunting Season Begins Nov 19th 2022

This Saturday, November 19th, is the first day of regular hunting season, which means guns are allowed for deer hunting in our region. Hunting is allowed at all of the Ithaca region’s state forests and wildlife management areas (i.e. Connecticut Hill), and on private land adjacent to many public lands with trails (i.e. the northern half of the Black Diamond Trail). Between regular season and muzzleloading season, gun hunting seasons runs through January 1st.

Please remember to remain on marked trails, wear bright colors, keep your dogs close by, and recognize the boundaries between public and private land. Visit the DEC Web site for further details, and this Friends of Hammond Hill post summarizing what the DEC allows.
