Below is an announcement of upcoming work on the trails at Hammond Hill. Note that, as a 501(c)3, the Finger Lakes Runners Club serves as the fiscal sponsor for Friends of Hammond Hill fundraisers, which provide the funds for trail improvements on the trails the club uses for the Thom B Trail Runs in the spring and Super Frosty Loomis in the winter. A link to donate appears below, as does a link to the updated trail map, which includes three new miles of lovely single track in Hammond Hill State Forest; there are now 30 total miles of trail.
Hammond Hill (HH) Trail update August 31st 2023
Trail repair on Y1 and B1 will get started this Thursday, August 31st with our trail crew stocking stone that day at various trail heads on Hammond Hill and Canaan Road. Starting Friday September 1st, work will begin on these trails, with equipment and materials being moved via Y3, Y1 and Y6 to the areas being worked on. Please be aware of this activity and take precautions to keep yourselves and our trail crew safe at all times.
It has been an extremely wet year! The work being done is all to get water off the trail surface as quickly as possible, reducing erosion and mud pits. Thanks to everyone who has donated and otherwise been a huge part of a very big year… adding new trails, dealing with tornado and high wind damage, training people to be safe out in the “wilderness.” It’s been incredible to have been a part of this effort! We could not have made this happen without every one of you doing your part. Happy Trails! Hope to see you out on them very soon.
