There’s a new road race 10K on Saturday, September 19, starting at 9:00 AM. The course runs the original Grand Prix route right through Watkins Glen. You are running the same road the cars drove back in the day. It finishes down at the Lucky Hare Brewing marina on Seneca Lake, and everyone who crosses the line gets a finisher medal and a free drink. Options are available for a brunch, shirt, and virtual version as well.
A few things that you might want to know:
- Timing will be done by Falcon Timing, with bib pickup at the start location.
- The cutoff is a generous 3 hours. Walkers, strollers, and anyone easing back from an injury are genuinely welcome.
- Packet pickup is 7:30 AM at the checkered flags in front of the courthouse, between 9th and 10th.
- Packet pickup is also the start location. Police will block traffic on Franklin to allow race to start at the checkered flags on the road.
- There is a post-race brunch and a raffle at the marina, so it is worth sticking around. By registering for the race you are entered in the raffle; must be present to win.
- Restrooms available at the park entrance prior to the race, and bathrooms available at the marina afterwards.
Registration is right now $33 for the run plus the finisher award, or $54 if you want the brunch and a race tech t-shirt. There is also a virtual option. Registration closes Wednesday, September 16 at 11:59 AM.
Prices will be increasing in early September. If you have questions about the course or the logistics, ask here and I will answer.
Thanks and hope to see you out there!
