We’re excited to announce that the first year of FLRC’s Electrical Box Art Quest is happening in Ithaca, NY on April 11! This event blends the fun of a (guided) scavenger hunt with the camaraderie and casual nature of a group run as you explore painted electrical boxes (and murals) around the city.
You’ll start at Thompson Park on N Cayuga St. and use provided turn-by-turn directions or a downloadable .gpx route to navigate your way to 30–65 painted electrical boxes. Choose your quest distance to suit your challenge level: 10K (160ft elevation), 11-mile (with two elevation choices—490ft or 800ft), and 14.5-mile (950ft elevation). If you’re out on your quest and feeling spicy, power up to a longer distance! If you’ve had your fill of art and want to end early, drop down.
Registration is $15 for a finisher’s patch (with $5 supporting Ithaca Murals) or free with the option to donate separately. There are no aid stations, but plenty of places along the way to grab food or drinks, and free all-day parking is available at the start/finish. Afterward, everyone is invited to celebrate at a local brewery. This event is a great way to usher winter out the door, appreciate local public art, and get moving with friends!
