Land acknowledgement

I just noticed the “land acknowledgement” in the Monster Marathon description. How was it decided to include this and is it FLRC policy from the Board?

" This race is run entirely within Robert H. Treman State Park. FLRC recognizes that this park is on traditional lands of the Indigenous Cayuga Nation, part of the larger Haudenosaunee Confederacy, and the Susquehannock people. We honor with gratitude the land itself and the people who have stewarded it throughout the generations, long before New York State existed. As you run our race, please respect the land and acknowledge this history and the Indigenous people’s relationship to it."

FLRC’s land use acknowledgment came out of discussions in the Diversity & Inclusion Committee in an October 2020 meeting, the topic was discussed at the November 2020 board meeting, and the wording was finalized in online discussions among the Web Team in December 2020.
