happy to just get out and get moving after Monday’s big event. I had the trails to myself mostly so enjoyed the cool weather, the flowers, and the wildlife - even stopping for the LSTBB that crossed my path (deer here are really tame) and then stopping to try and snap a photo of a female downy woodpecker (Merlin’s bird of the day!) that buzzed me while it made its breakfast rounds. So didn’t mind that I was running really slow…
Solitude
Managed to run this course before the rain came. Very peaceful mid-week with imminent rain. Saw one other runner on the gravel road up top, passed an older gentleman sitting on a log in the woods enjoying a sandwich, and there was a dog enjoying the creek while its owner waited patiently.
The waterfall off to the side of the creek was just a trickle on the gorge face, so I went past the turn up the hill to catch a photo of the water falling over the dam.
There are days when I need to let my mind work through things on a run and days I need to escape. Today I needed the escape of the woods, so I settled on a trail course relatively close to work.
With the recent rains the creek was rushing. What is it about the sound of water that is so soothing?!
After finishing the course, I decided I needed a second loop. On the final, steep descent I thought WWDD?!?!?
But my thought was interrupted by a HUGE snake, could have been a boa constrictor (), definitely not a garter, that I saw near the end of the course.
Below is the view from where I park my car at work. The arrow is pointing to the brick building which is the Cornell Dairy Processing Plant which I don’t allow myself to visit regularly.
