This is a heck of a race at the Wanamaker Mile at the Millrose Games, and in it Elle Purrier sets a new American record —4:16.85 — for the women’s indoor mile, breaking the 37-year-old record set by Mary Decker in 1982. Perhaps even more astonishing is that it was an 8-second PR for her.
As is also being discussed on the High Noon list, the commentary is completely useless. No discussion of the splits, no mention of the rabbit’s pacing, just a lot of blather. Sigh.
