New Strength Training Program for FLRC Members at Infinity Athletics!

Looking to boost your running performance, prevent injuries, and build strength? Want to add strength training to your routine but don’t know where to start? Concerned about the inevitable muscle loss due to aging? Our friends at Infinity Athletics are offering a free clinic for FLRC members to explain how strength training can benefit your running! Then, a four-week training program will help you put the concepts from the clinic into practice.

Clinic Details

Date: March 1, 11:30 am – 1:00 pm
Where: Infinity Athletics (730 Willow Ave, Ithaca)

We will look at:

  • Some myths centered around strength training for distance runners
  • What the research actually says about the benefits of strength training for distance runners
  • Recommendations on exercise/programming strategies to help runners get started
  • Infinity Athletics facility and program for FLX runners
  • Q&A

After the clinic, you’ll have the opportunity to join Infinity’s custom strength training program for runners, led by certified trainers who have been highly spoken of by several FLRC members.

Sadly, we are out of town on March 1. But we would be interested if they ever offer the free clinic for runners again.

I hope to record (and possibly livestream) it, but since that’s not something I’ve done much before, no promises about how well it will turn out. I’ll post here with any details as we get closer.

Thanks, Adam. You are the best!

Big thanks to Dave Diggin for his excellent presentation and to Infinity Athletics for hosting and proposing the strength training sessions! We had about 20 people in person and a few more joining via Zoom.

Here’s the video on YouTube for anyone who wasn’t able to come or listen in. My apologies in advance for the audio, which captures only the main speaker reliably. Audio is not my area of expertise, and it was a challenging space and setup. :person_shrugging: Here’s the promised FLRC Strength Training Clinic workout card example.pdf that Dave hands out at some point.
