Looking to boost your running performance, prevent injuries, and build strength? Want to add strength training to your routine but don’t know where to start? Concerned about the inevitable muscle loss due to aging? Our friends at Infinity Athletics are offering a free clinic for FLRC members to explain how strength training can benefit your running! Then, a four-week training program will help you put the concepts from the clinic into practice.

Date: March 1, 11:30 am – 1:00 pm
Where: Infinity Athletics (730 Willow Ave, Ithaca)
We will look at:
- Some myths centered around strength training for distance runners
- What the research actually says about the benefits of strength training for distance runners
- Recommendations on exercise/programming strategies to help runners get started
- Infinity Athletics facility and program for FLX runners
- Q&A
After the clinic, you’ll have the opportunity to join Infinity’s custom strength training program for runners, led by certified trainers who have been highly spoken of by several FLRC members.
Strength Training Program Details
- Small class sizes (4–8 people) for personalized coaching
- Flexible schedule: Choose any 2 classes per week, Mon–Fri at 5 PM (other times may also be available)
- Session Start Date: Week of March 3
- Location: In-person at Infinity Athletics or on your own via the Train Heroic app
- Cost: $20 per class ($160 for a 4-week cycle — a 30% discount exclusively for FLRC members — or $30/month for the custom training program in the Train Heroic app for you to complete on your own. Personal training options are also available for an additional fee.
