Hello, @pgxc-flrc and @pgxc-high-noon!
We’ll be racing on Sunday 9/22 at Bassett Park (359 Klein Rd, Williamsville, NY 14221). We ran this course last year, and it is a pleasant, mostly flat, grassy course. The course map shows parking at its upper left.
The main carpool will leave from the southwest corner of Cornell’s B-lot on Sunday morning. Plan to arrive at 6:45 AM. We’ll sort people into cars and leave at 7:00 AM sharp.
Runners who live in downtown Ithaca can get picked up from a car that departs from the B-lot, typically the bank parking lot next to Island Fitness. We may also have a self-organizing carpool (@J_J and @Mikhail_Kern) that departs from downtown, probably near Gimme. And, the Cortland area group is already self-organizing. If you need a ride that does not depart from the B-lot, please comment on this post—be sure to include your text number.
The race starts at 11am, so we suggest you aim to arrive at Bassett Park around 10am. When you arrive, pick up your number from the main race organizing table, and drop off your stuff and find team members at the FLRC tent. Extra jerseys will be at the tent. (If you will be borrowing a jersey, wear a blue or black shirt that you like for racing, just in case the sizing doesn’t work out.) Aim to get to the start line 5–10 minutes before the race so you can join the team cheer and hear announcements.
After the race
When you finish running, stick around near the finish line to cheer for teammates. Do a post-race cool down jog with others on the team. There will be post-race refreshments, provided by the PGXC series, such as bananas, oranges, energy bars, and chips/pretzels. We’ve heard that the series may bring back bagels and peanut butter this year.
A half-hour or so after all runners finish, there will be an awards ceremony for individuals and age-group teams that placed well.
Adam and I will be stopping at Simply Crepes in Canandaigua, at 101 South Main Street to stretch our legs and grab a real meal, and we hope to see other team members there.
If you read this far and still want more info, see the FAQ.
See you on Sunday! —Tonya & Adam
