PGXC #5 2024 logistics: Center Park in Fairport, course, lunch, save-the-date

Hello, @pgxc-flrc and @pgxc-high-noon!

Our fifth and final race is this Sunday, 11/10, at Center Park in Fairport (Google pin), which is a 1:45 drive from Cornell. The forecast has cloudy skies and temperatures in the mid-50s. The race starts at 11 AM, so we recommend arriving by 10 AM so you have time to pick up your bib from the race organizers, get a singlet if you need to borrow one, and warm up with your team before the race.

Carpool Plans

Our carpool setup will have a few groups self-organizing and the usual main focus at Cornell’s B-Lot, where we will sort out who is driving and divide everyone else up into cars as passengers. If you’re coming to the B-Lot, please reply to this post with your plans.

For the B Lot carpool, please plan to arrive at 8:00 AM. We’ll sort people into cars and depart at 8:15 AM sharp. It’s a 1:45 drive, and we’ll make the canonical Thruway bathroom stop.

Course Map

The course map is the same as last year. Parking is in the lot below the FINISH marker.

Post-Race Award Ceremony

After the race, instead of the usual award ceremony, the PGXC organizers are hosting a free picnic banquet with pizza, fruit, and desserts. That’s scheduled for 12:20 PM. Awards go to the top ten runners in each age group (wine), members of the top three teams in each age group (TBD), and the overall club cup winner. The complex scoring system requires that you complete the 5th race to win anything, so anyone who does not race on Sunday will drop out—this often knocks out people ahead of you in the standings. Check your current point tally here.

Unless the pizza is a lot tastier than expected, Tonya and I will be stopping on the way home for a better lunch (possibly Salt in Fairport, which is a 5-minute drive, or, if breaking up the drive seems more attractive, our regular spot of Simply Crepes in Canandaigua or Brewery Ardennes in Geneva). Anyone who wants to extend the day is welcome to join us.

FLRC/High Noon Award Ceremony Group Run and Lunch on 11/17

Our FLRC/High Noon team will again have our own annual award ceremony and banquet at noon on Sunday, November 17, at the Brooktondale Community Center (Google pin). We’ll kick things off with a 40-minute out-and-back group run and then enjoy lunch and awards inside the Community Center. We’ll share more details next week, but mark your calendar for now.

See you on Sunday! —Adam & Tonya

I will there on Sunday at 8 to join a carpool.

I will be coming to B-lot. I can drive or ride, whichever works best for the group configuration.
