PT recommendations for Achilles injury

Hi All,

I’m signed up to run the Wineglass Marathon on Oct. 6 (just over 2 weeks away), and I’ve been dealing with a persistent achilles injury. Unfortunately, I aggravated it last night, and it’s really angry! I’m thinking that I might just let it rest for the next week or so, then try running on it before I decide if the marathon is still in the cards for me. However, even with rest, I’m worried that I won’t meet my time goal. The way that it feels today, there’s no way that I could even run a half-marathon!

I’m looking for recommendations for PTs in Ithaca, who may be able to help me make a miraculous recovery so that I’m able run the marathon in somewhere approaching my time goal. Or perhaps advise me not to run. And, of course, help me to heal.

Any help, advice, and recommendations are greatly appreciated!

Steve

Gerrit Van Loon (@gvanloon) at Natural Health Family Chiropractic is where I’d turn for a Hail Mary if I needed to race soon. Lots of other runners in the area see him as well, and he’s an accomplished ultra runner.

1000% also recommend Gerrit for something like this.

Thanks for all of the helpful recommendations. Perhaps I can chat with some of you tonight at the FLRC picnic.
