For looking at width of road shoulders, Google Maps and street view is helpful. Though not all of the FFI course is on street view. But I can tell you there are no paved shoulders on the FFI course roads – there is a gravel shoulder on some of them. However, traffic should be pretty light. Wear bright clothing and stay alert. I don’t think the camber is too bad but it’s been over a year since I’ve ran on those roads.
Not much good shoulder on the Freeville Fly-in course but it doesn’t seem like a high traffic area. I ran it on a Sunday morning and it was quiet. Mostly other runners and bikers out, very little traffic. I was able to run in the middle of the lane where the road is flatter for most it (a steep road camber bothers my knees). But overall the camber isn’t too bad for most of the course and the road is in good condition.
Haven’t made the trek to Trumansburg for that course yet.
