@pgxc-flrc @pgxc-high-noon At the last xc meet I announced that I was collecting used but usable shoes to take to Cuba on my upcoming trip. (When I signed up, it was just to enjoy 6 days of cycling in Cuba, but it seems to have turned into much more. Life is funny that way)
So this is your REMINDER to go through your old shoes and bring any that you’d like to rehome purposefully to the next meet in Canandaigua. I have also put a box in Ian’s store (Finger Lakes Running Co on Cascadilla, I’m sure you know it.) where you can leave them.
When I checked with my trip coordinator about the wisdom of bringing all these shoes, this is how she responded:
“When I ran in the Havana Marathon one of the other runners asked me if she could have my shoes when I was done, my shoes were not in great condition. She showed me her shoes, the soles were falling off. Your generosity would be appreciated”
I am planning to bring two pairs of sneakers.
How long will Ian’s store collect shoes for this?
I will pick the box up on Wed Nov 5. I’m leaving for Cuba on the 8th.
If I can pick the box of shoes up on Sunday afternoon, 11/3, I can send my big suitcase of shoes & other goods to NYC in my daughter’s car on Tuesday instead of rassling it on the bus later in the week, so that’s what I’d like to do. (This is a multi-leg trip.) If that doesn’t work for you, or if you don’t get this message, I’ll still stop by the store Wed anyway to pick up the late-comers and hopefully stuff them in when I get to the city.
Note to all: CHANGE OF PICK-UP DATE
