@pgxc-flrc @pgxc-high-noon Sunday was a glorious day for cross-country, and our FLRC and High Noon teams took advantage of it. With a season-high 64 runners turning out and lots of new faces, we were able to field teams in all but women’s Ultra Vets, and by pure point count, we won the day. After the race, a bunch of us enjoyed lunch at Garrett’s Brewing up in Trumansburg, capping off a fabulous morning.
Full results are available, with more individual podium finishes (chocolate!) and repeat team wins from the FLRC U19 team and the FLRC Women’s Vets team. Even teams that didn’t win moved up in the standings, with a lot of second-place showings. We’re now tied with GVH for second place in the overall Series Cup standings with two races to go. Congrats to all our runners!

In the U19 division, newcomer Ryan Jacobsen’s debut was auspicious, as he outkicked a Syracuse teen to win the division and take 27th overall. Stalwarts Kate Hulsey and Gretchen Hulsey filled out our A team, placing 6th and 7th in the co-ed team division and first and second in the women’s age group category. Our 14 points (1-6-7) were just enough to beat the Syracuse Track Club’s A team’s 15 points (2-4-9). STC chose to put one of their faster runners on their B team, which scored 20 points (3-5-12)—had they built their teams differently, they would have taken first and third rather than second and third. Our B team took fourth with 29 points (8-10-11).
Our other team win of the day came from the Women’s Vets team, which took advantage of a visit by a long-ago Ithaca runner in town to see her daughter. Julie Hilson took the overall win, with Julie Barclay third overall, and Kris Haines-Sharp seventh, with Kim Jackson and Tonya Engst filling out the team.
