Congrats to Bailey Drewes, Ellie Pell, and Chelsea Benson for their races in Atlanta at the Olympic Trials Marathon! As timed by our friends at Leone Timing, their results were:
- Bailey Drewes: 2:42:11, 66th place
- Ellie Pell: 2:44:59, 121st place
- Chelsea Benson: 2:47:05, 163rd place
Another runner with a local connection was Keira D’Amato (Casey Carlstrom’s niece), who ran 2:34.24 for 15th place. Elmira native Molly Huddle dropped out at 21 miles, and Allie Kieffer, who ran the Pete Glavin Cross Countries Series races with us a few years ago, dropped out at 7 miles. Sadly, Jullianne Quinn was unable to run due to injury.
Other PGXC friends in the race included Tim Chichester of the Genesee Valley Harriers, who ran 2:23 for 85th place, and Sam Morse of the Syracuse Track Club, who came in at 2:40:26.
Hopefully, @colleen.hoya can share some pictures from the race, since she was watching in person and got at least one of Bailey.
And of course, the people who actually made the US Olympic team were Galen Rupp, Jacob Riley, and Abdi Abdirahman for the men, and Aliphine Tuliamuk, Molly Seidel, and Sally Kipyego for the women.
