Happy spring! The local trails are starting to dry out, and that means it’s time to register for the Thom B. Trail Runs, FLRC’s first trail race of the season. The race will take place at Hammond Hill on Sunday, May 22nd, with three distances: 8.5 miles, 17 miles, and 26.2 miles. Enjoy one, two, or three loops of rolling singletrack around the forest as the foliage starts to fill in!
We will continue with last year’s format by staging the race in the field next to the “Hammond Hill-ton” warming hut, thanks to Ann and Charlie Leonard. The marathon starts at 7 AM, with the one- and two-loop races starting together at 8 AM. Parking will be tight in the parking lot and alongside Hammond Hill and Star Stanton Roads, so please obey the signs about where to park.
Anyone who runs the Thom B is automatically entered into our Trail Circuit series and will appear on the new dynamic leaderboard, with standings updated following the race. Check out our custom voice-based RunGo directions if you want to pre-run the course prior to the race.
The 8.5-mile race is a great off-road introduction for new trail runners, and the longer distances could serve as training runs or tuneup races for an early summer ultramarathon such as Cayuga Trails.
We hope to see you in the woods on May 22nd!
