Tracen Warnick's 3:42 mile

The title says it all. Weber State’s Tracen Warnick ran a 3:42 downhill mile (197 ft drop) close to SLC, Utah. This is the fastest mile ever run in Utah and faster than Hicham El Guerroj’s track WR in the mile 3:43.

Haha, I imagine that was quite painful now matter how fit he is.

I actually did the same thing a few days ago—a 1-mile time trial downhill on Mark Smith Road in the FL National Forest. (A forest dirt road, 368-foot drop per Strava.) The goal was to beat my pedestrian PR of 5:40 from the 2015 Ithaca Festival Mile, and I ran it in 5:14 easily. I want to go back for a more serious attempt to try to break 5:00.
