FLRC’s Twilight 5K race is approaching on the calendar, and volunteers are preparing to welcome hundreds of runners at the Treman Marina on June 14. Registration is $25 until 8 AM on Monday June 12, and we encourage you to register before then, both to assist our volunteer Food Team and because the price goes up to $45 after that.
Also on Monday, race leadership will assess air quality predictions for the time of the race. The race will be canceled if we believe the Air Quality Index (AQI) will be over 150 on Wednesday evening. That’s the value above which the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) says the air is unhealthy for everyone. If that happens, we will email all registrants and refund all registration payments. If we decide to hold the race but then on Wednesday the AQI is worse than expected, we will still have to cancel; if that happens we will also email registrants and refund payments.
So, sign up to join us on the lake shore! We hope to have fresh breezes off the lake and enjoy glimpses of ospreys flying overhead. We’ll have runners of all ages and abilities, and with few road crossings and chip timing, it’s a great first-ever 5K. It’s also a fine 5K for setting a new personal best time or for adding to your collection of FLRC Challenge 5K efforts. (All volunteer opportunities are now full for Twilight 5K, but we always welcome more cheering spectators on the course!)
