With the Two Hollows Monster Marathon and Half trail race just over a week away, we really need a few more people to volunteer.
Particularly, we need help with the aid station at the finish line area for the afternoon, a food server for the after-race food (maybe someone from the Food Team could volunteer), someone to pick up the lunch food in Dryden, bib pick-up, and others. Please go to Helper Helper to sign up.
Thanks from the RDs of Monster (Nancy “Steve” Kleinrock, Steve Jesch, Steve Shaum and Steve Vanek)
I wasn’t sure where to post my praise for the race organization, so I’ll do it in this thread which may get boosted to the top of the forum.
Nancy, Steve, Steve, & Steve directed a super race. The course was challenging but well-marked, with good weather and more participants than I recall for previous Monsters. The forest is beautiful, and I would have enjoyed it more if I wasn’t watching my footing (only fell once, a lovely shoulder roll that hurt my pride more than my limbs thank goodness).
I have raced the Monster-Half a few times at Treman State Park, and this was my first since they relocated to Kennedy State Forest. The elevation (2200 ft for the half) was challenging, but I never met a hill I couldn’t walk up (and I did for most of them!). The last few miles were tough with the uphill, mud, and planks, but that just adds to the adventure.
Super volunteers, post-race food, brewskis, and I am looking forward to seasoning my dinners with the swag (homemade Monster Marathon hot sauce!).
