With nice, if warm, weekend weather, we notched three more Challenge completions. Congrats to:
Nora McIver-Sheridan, who ran her first Challenge effort in almost a month and sprang to the top of the Most Points for women list by laying down a 1:39:17 Freeville Fly-In, about 3 minutes faster than Molly Doruska’s previous record.
Matthew Clark and his faithful canine companion Maggie, who also returned to the Challenge after almost a month off to sprint around a track in 8:07 for their Sweet 1600 completion.
Jesse Koennecke, who rested up for Sunday’s Freeville Fly-In effort by timing Fillmore 5K on Saturday.
@Challengers Congratulations to our two youngest finishers: four-year-old twins Adrian Kresock and Joel Kresock! They’re following in their father’s footsteps by finishing their Personal Challenge by completing the Sweet 1600 and Duck Trails courses. (They might tackle Lakefront Loops too, but Pete didn’t want to bet on that.) They’re now listed on the Completions page.
@Challengers Sunday was a big day for FLRC Challenge completions, with three people notching their final course:
Julie Cooper led off by running the Hammond Hill Hoctathon for her tenth course.
Roger Moseley submitted his 5:04 Sweet 1600 from Trackapalooza for his final course, a time that put him solidly into second place in Most Points with 971.02 and Age Grade with 72.88%.
@Challengers Congrats to our latest finisher, Amy Dawson, who ran FH Fox this morning to claim her medal. Speaking of which, look what just showed up yesterday—if you want one, get cracking on your remaining courses!
@Challengers Congratulations to our Canadian import for the past year, Gerald McKinley, who organized a group to accompany him in completing Run Rabbit Run this morning, followed by breakfast and snacks at Scott and Amy Dawson’s house. Since Gerald is leaving very soon, I presented him with his medal early.
Congrats to our latest finisher, Keith Eggleston, who tackled the tough Treman Trailipop course on a steamy afternoon to claim his medal. 11 people have just one course to go, and another 10 have only two courses to go, so we should be seeing a lot more finishers pop up soon.
Remember, if you would prefer navigation help or company on a remaining course, post here on the forum with your expected schedule and pace and @mention the @Challengers group. We had two informal groups on Run Rabbit Run and Hammond Hill Hoctathon this Saturday that worked out wonderfully.
@Challengers Congrats to our two most recent FLRC Challenge finishers, Amanda King and Inger Aaberg! Both are 37 and boosting the @Thundering-30s team that won the 2021 team competition.
They’re sort of an overlap too. Sadly, Amanda and Aaron King will very shortly be leaving Ithaca for New Haven, whereas Inger and her husband Audun Dahl arrived in Ithaca a year ago. We’ll miss the Kings but look forward to seeing Inger and Audun at more FLRC events in the future.
@Challengers For completion’s sake in these posts (I’m nothing if not a completion freak, as you can tell from the mere existence of the FLRC Challenge), congratulations to our three most recent FLRC Challenge finishers: Scott Dawson, Xander Dawson, and Elizabeth Dawson. Claiming the finisher’s medal was a foregone conclusion, given that Xander ran all ten courses today and Scott and Elizabeth ran five each for their respective Ultra Challenges. We’re now up to 39 finishers with just over a month to go.
@Challengers Congrats to our most recent Challenge finisher, Sarah von Schrader, who employed a one-and-done strategy, culminating with Lakefront Loops on Sunday.
We have our 42nd finisher, @Challengers—kudos to Hank Duarte, who ran the Freeville Fly-In for his final course yesterday earlier in the day than Sarah Giesy.
The leaderboard didn’t notice Hank’s completion initially because his Hammond Hill Hoctathon effort hadn’t posted due to weak cellular service. So if you think you’ve completed the Challenge but aren’t appearing on the Completions page, check your Athlete page to see which course is missing (click your name anywhere on the leaderboard) and then open the Webscorer app and look in Race Archive > My Results to find and repost the missing course.
@Challengers Congrats to our latest finisher, Ithaca newcomer Yamil Andres Molina, who has become a regular at group runs ever since the Sunday Skunkday runs this winter. He took a measured one-and-done approach to claim his medal.
(Apologies in advance if Google Translate has mangled this, but I wanted to give Yamil a chance to read it in Spanish too.)
Hello, thanks for the comments, a little difficult because of the time available and the mobility, but in the end it was possible. another personal goal overcome.
Claim a Medal? Great where to claim.
I would like to purchase one of the t-shirts for the Challenge.
I will be giving out the medals at the FLRC picnic at Treman State Park on September 19. But if you know you can’t come to that, I can get it to you sooner. (Amalia is in Scotland, Gerald is in Canada, and Xander is at school in Boston.)
If you would like to order a purple FLRC Challenge shirt, you can do so at this site, and then you can get it from me at a group run, I can leave it at the running store for you, or we can make other arrangements.
An excellent weekend for completions, @Challengers! Congrats to Rachel Neugarten and Gretchen Gilbert, who separately took advantage of today’s cool weather to finish the Freeville Fly-In course, Brian Harrington, who did Run Rabbit Run with today’s group run for his final course, and Steve Nathans-Kelly, who only had to knock off a quick Sweet 1600.
Yesterday was a great day for finishing, @Challengers. Congratulations to:
Courtney Pure, who finished her one-and-done strategy with Freeville Fly-In
Matthew Coston, who ran each of the courses once, in ascending distance order, also finishing with Freeville Fly-In
Damian Clemons, who knocked off his final courses while running the Tough Tarmac Challenge last weekend and the Tough Trail Challenge this weekend
Hannah Grazul, who, you guessed it, ran Freeville Fly-In
Ana Riley, who took down Freeville Fly-In on the Fourth of July and thus could relax on a Sweet 1600 for her final course
Hope Towle, who seemingly wanted to finish early, since she ran Duck Trails and Lakefront Loops 5K on Friday, followed by Run Rabbit Run on Saturday
Nice running, everyone!
The roads in Freeville were busy, since Heather Cobb and Diana Hackett were also out there—hope everyone got a chance to wave at their fellow Challengers.
