2024 FLRC Challenge Completions

Two more completions yesterday, @Challengers. Kudos to Tanya Burnett for completing her Challenge with a Hammond Hill Hoctathon and to Banyan Love, our youngest full finisher (and currently in fifth place in Most Points), who worked through some health issues to finish Freeville Fly-In on the last day before heading off to college.

@Challengers, congrats to our latest finisher, Mik Kern, who apparently decided not to try to time things to be the last person to finish like last year. After running Duck Trails a bazillion times, he finished off the remaining courses with a speedy Lakefront Loops 5K that moved him into third overall for Most Points.

Another finisher today, @Challengers, with Kim Jackson taking advantage of the cool weather this morning to finish off Freeville Fly-In. Weā€™re now up to 58 finishersā€”I hope we can improve on last yearā€™s 98 completions, but if it were easy, it wouldnā€™t be a challenge.

@Challengers, congrats to 67-year-old Mike Allinger, who ran FH Fox this morning to claim his medal and take over the title of oldest finisher from 64-year-old Keith Eggleston. I donā€™t know how long heā€™ll hold it, though, since 72-year-old Ruth Sproul has only a Sweet 1600 left to run.

This morning brought three more completions, @Challengers. Congrats to Brittany Cronk, who finished off her Challenge with the Sweet 1600 that was all that she had left after her Tough Trail Challenge completion a week ago. And Iā€™m particularly pleased to announce that Simon Woods has completed his third Personal Challenge in three years on Treman Trailipop with his parents. Heā€™s now 8 years old and ran all but the two long road courses this year. (His first year, he ran six courses and last year, seven courses.) His mother, Michelle Woods, also completed her tenth course today, but sheā€™s hoping to get out to do a few more courses on her own to complete all the courses for a second time.

It was a big weekend for completions, @Challengers! Congrats to Laura Helmerick, Laura Taylor, Andrea Lachance, Dina Maxwell, Paula Kilts, Cecelia Madsen, Stephen Jesch, and Thomas Everest for completing their final courses. With her tenth course done, Cecelia Madsen moved into third overall in Most Points. However, Molly Doruska could supplant her with a sufficiently fast Run Rabbit Run, as could Michelle Woods as she re-runs some courses more quickly without an 8-year-old in tow. Or Cecelia could extend her lead by re-running Lindsay-Parsons and FH Fox.

Weā€™re now up to 73 finishers total, with another 26 only having one or two courses left. Log your courses!

@Challengers The start of the week has brought three more finishersā€”congratulations to Ballard Smith (once through each course and done!), Columbia Warren (who moves into 6th for Most Points and Age Grade), and Anne Shakespeare (who takes the lead as our oldest finisher so far at age 69)!

I love seeing these completions roll in, @Challengersā€”weā€™re up to 81! In last two days, weā€™ve seen completions from Ryan Allen-Parrot (thanks to his Tough Tarmac completion), Christian Lincoln, Maddie Dorward, Bruce Lauber, and Stephanie Mulinos. Congrats to all!

As a reminder (since two people have asked today), the last day to run Challenge courses is Monday, September 2. Webscorer will accept times until 11:59 PM that day, so everything must be entered before then.

Weā€™re picking up speed into the final weekend, @Challengers, with four more finishers so far today. Congrats to Michael Niemack, Sandra Thananart, Ruth Sproul, and Michael Wood. Ruth has now claimed the title of oldest finisher, and it looks like sheā€™ll hold onto that.

85 finishers so far!

Weā€™re now at 93 finishers. Letā€™s see how many people have saved their last course or two for the final day!

@Challengers, Iā€™m pleased to share our final-day finishers. Congrats to: Ian Woods, Heather Cobb, Verity Platt, Diana Hackett, Morgan Cutter, Oliver Lambert, Trista Thorn, Jack Crowley, Shannon Coccimiglio, Jenna Rice, and our final finisher for the season, at 8:30 PM, Sten Anderson! Jim Hodges also completed an injury-driven Personal Challenge.

We ended the Challenge with 101 overall finishers and 5 Personal Challenge finishers for a total of 106. (And Iā€™m aware of one more person who ran all the courses but never got around to entering times, but the leaderboard is truth.)
