Sadly, we have to cancel Super Frosty Loomis again this year. We’ve been closely monitoring trail conditions, and as you can see below, there are too many bare spots and thin sections. We don’t expect enough—if any—snow before race morning to fill those in. We want to provide a fun and welcoming race experience, but with this week’s lack of fresh snow and today’s rain, that’s just not possible, either as a snowshoe or trail race. In addition, the NYS DEC would prefer that we not hold a trail race at this time of year because of potential damage to the trails and safety concerns around slippery conditions. Due to the unpredictability of snow this year, we will not be rescheduling the race to a later date.
We hope Loomis will be back next year, and if Hammond Hill gets sufficient snow in what remains of winter, we’ll post some group snowshoe runs in the Group Runs & Workouts category.
