@Challengers He may have been slowed up by illness on his first day out this year, but that didn’t stop Pete Kresock from repeating as our first finisher.
I was waiting for this…
Way to go, Pete @Petorius!
@Challengers In the excitement over seeing Gill Haines-Sharp complete the Tough Trail Challenge, I missed that she also finished off all ten of her courses. She’s our second finisher for the year, followed by Melissa Wallace, who claimed her medal this morning. Congrats, all!
@Challengers We have our fourth finisher of the Challenge—congrats to Steve Nathans-Kelley for completing his ten courses today with what is currently the second-fastest Sweet 1600. Steve was also the very first person to register for the FLRC Challenge this year, discovering the registration pages before we had linked it in or announced anything—nice to see the enthusiasm!
@Challengers Congrats to our fifth finisher, Paula Klaben, who recruited some canine company for her shortest course!
@Challengers We have our sixth finisher, Ian Woods, who took on the North Country Half this morning to claim his medal. That also moves him into second place for Most Points and third place for Age Grade.
@Challengers Congratulations to our oldest finisher so far, the 73-year-old Ruth Sproul! She has been doing an impressive job of marking off the courses, and she finished today with the Abbott Ascent, which hopefully dried out a bit in today’s glorious sunshine.
My apologies, @Challengers, for missing this completion earlier this week! (I just moved to a new Mac and forgot to install my monitoring software that watches for page changes.) Congratulations to Lucia Chen, who has now claimed her first coveted FLRC Challenge medal! She had gotten to nine courses almost a month ago, but between the wet trails and her racing schedule, she held off on North Country Half until early Wednesday morning, before the temperature soared. That tenth course also puts her in second place overall for women right now
We’re up to nine finishers now, with past FLRC treasurer Mike Allinger claiming his medal on Wednesday on the Mulholland Waterfalls course, after which he got back to running Lakefront Loops, where he’s third for most runs. Congrats, Mike!
It’s been a busy week, @Challengers, but congrats to our two most recent finishers, John Hummel and Steve Jesch, both of whom finished the Challenge on Tuesday. Steve went out in style by saving his Sweet 1600 for the Sunset Circuits track meet. Congrats, guys!
@Challengers We have another finisher! Congrats to Tristan Lambert, who braved Abbott Ascent for his final course. That was also sufficient to catapult him into second place in Most Points for men, behind only Patrick Milano.
@Challengers Congratulations today to Melanie Smee, who ran the almost entirely not muddy Abbott Ascent to claim her Challenge medal for the year. Even more impressive, she ran it as a solo trail run and encountered exactly zero bears!
@Challengers Congrats to our 15th and 16th finishers, Michael Smith and Shanthi Mariappan! Michael tackled the tough Triple Hump for his final course, whereas Shanthi waited until Abbott Ascent dried out a bit to use it to complete her collection.
@Challengers Congrats to our latest finisher, Tanya Burnett, who completed North Country Half earlier this week to claim her medal!
@Challengers Congrats to Gretchen Gilbert for her perseverance in tracking down a track (they’re surprisingly shifty) to complete her Challenger for the year!
@Challengers Three more finishers yesterday! Scott Dawson and Amy Dawson came to the group run on Abbott Ascent to claim their medal, and Laura Taylor braved the heat to complete North Country Half. Nice running, all!
@Challengers We have two more completions so far this week, with Brian Harrington claiming his medal with a North Country Half completion and 9-year-old Simon Woods continuing his Personal Challenge practice of matching his age to the number of courses to run. He completed his ninth course on the North Country Half—his longest run ever!
