Congrats to a number of you who raced Qual’s Friday night. Maybe a few who didn’t quite hit the marks or qualifiers they may have sought, but an equal number who crushed, ran PR’s, nabbed qualifying slots. Heath’s crushing it, Sarah with a big PR, and, I believe in the class split, Owego sending 4x8’s in addition to the Ithaca girls. Gavin in the 600. Weeks getting at least Ross through. Tsadia and Zoli in the 3200 and/or 1500/1600. Maddie’s in the RW. It’s been a lot of fun to see you all training through the winter and gelling as a larger and blended community of runners and friends.
We’ll have Barton for the FLRC weekly slots of Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday nights. For the winter training cycle, this is the planned step-down week volume-wise, with minimal planned for Monday (if commuting, could do an easy run back home versus driving in) and with a singlular workout being “overload” Wednesday.
- 2/23: 8a
- 1 x 1600 @ T, 5 strides or easy run
- 2/25: 8b
- Overload Rep Set: 8 x 400 @ R on 2 minute cycle, 4 x 200 @ FR on 1 minute cycle
For other coaches and athletes who have their own workout planned, we do have the track. Looking ahead I may make the week of Monday, March 2nd our final M/W week as the majority attending are HS athletes and with the Outdoor season formally starting the week of the 9th. I’ll be in Montana skiing Thursday through Tuesday the 3rd, so another individual from the Club will stand in for that/next Monday.
