Barton Mon Feb 16 & Wed Feb 18 Workouts

Hope all had great weekends, many of you off from racing, and with both sun and temps breaking. Nice work to some of you who raced the FLRC meet today. It was fun to catch a few of you throwing down.

On for Barton as usual this week. It’s possible the track team will practice earlier tomorrow / Monday and we can get on the track earlier, but I don’t know that for sure. So, still plan on meeting in the Lower / Statler Drive entrance around 7:15 and we’ll move up when clear. The upper doors will NOT be open until after 7:30.

This will be the third of four weeks of this Mesocycle. For this, and the following, we’re mostly sticking with repeating workouts. The target is to adapt within the zone stimuli, each week feeling a bit stronger and more capable. For those in-season, having adapted and not as beat up in arriving at end of season…or at the start of outdoor. Next week will be a step back in volume, focusing on one workout which will be an “overload” set. On deck for this week:

  • 2/16: 7a. Critical Velocity
    • 5-6 x 1000 at CV Pace, 1- 2 minute recoveries (target: ~ 22-24 minutes “on”)
    • Lower volume modification: 6 - 8 x 600 at CV Pace w/ 1 minute recoveries
  • 2/18: 7b. Interval 3 / 3
    • 7 - 8 x 400 at I with 50% of on-time recoveries, 2 x 200 @ R w/ equal distance, 3 x fly’s

I’ll have zone targets with me tomorrow night as this one specifically, isn’t on the Vdot Calculator (it falls between Threshold and Interval pace).

See you soon.
