FLRC Fascia Release for Runners Workshop on Saturday 8/23 at 9 AM at Stewart Park

Brooklyn Strength founder (and Ithaca summer runner) Cadence Dubus is teaching her signature Fascia Release™ workshop this Saturday, 8/23, from 9–10 AM at Stewart Park. The workshop is free and open to all, but please register so we can get a head count. Meet at the bocce pits near the large pavilion; there’s plenty of parking nearby.

In this workshop, Cadence will tailor exercises to the specific needs of runners. We’ll lengthen tight hip flexors and soften tired hamstrings (you might even touch your toes by the end!). We’ll open the rib cage, an often neglected area for runners where much of our upper body power originates, and finish by gently focusing on our hard-working feet. You’ll learn easy techniques you can keep up with on your own, and get answers to nagging knee, ankle, and hip pain. By the end, you’ll have a better idea of how to relieve and prevent pain, injury, and chronic tightness so you can feel more flexible and agile going forward.

Wear comfortable clothes—running clothes are fine—and bring a foam roller. If you have a tennis ball, bring that too for your feet and other hard-to-reach areas. We’ll be outside on the grass, so a yoga mat might also be welcome.

If you want to go for a run before the workshop, some foam rolling might be a great way to finish off your workout. Post here if you’re planning such a run and want company.

Anybody up for a bike ride after? Maybe along the waterfront trail & crossing to Black Diamond? .

@debbliss Entirely possible, in fact, since I was thinking about doing a ride afterward.

I’ve got a 90 minute ride on my schedule. Hope you join me

Sounds like a plan—we can do at least some of it together. I don’t quite know what I’ll be doing.
