Logistics for PGXC #3 at West Genesee High School in Camillus

Hello, @pgxc-flrc and @pgxc-high-noon!

Our 6K race on Sunday, 10/19, is at West Genesee High School in Camillus, which is near Syracuse and about an hour away. (To park, aim for 5377 W, Genesee St., Camillus, NY 13031; also, see the left side of the course map, below.)

To sign up, scroll down on the PGXC Cross-Country Teams page to find links for signing up and adding yourself to the roster. Both are necessary!

Carpool

On Sunday, we’ll have our usual carpool routine:

  • The main carpool will leave from the southwest corner of Cornell’s B-lot on Sunday morning (see image below). Plan to arrive at 8:15 AM. We will sort ourselves into cars for departure at 8:30 AM sharp.

At the Race

The race starts at 11 AM, so we suggest you arrive by 10 AM. When you arrive, drop off your gear and find team members at the FLRC tent (“Club Tents” on the map below, between Parking and Finish). Then, pick up your number from the main race organizing table.

Extra FLRC and High Noon jerseys will be available to sign out at the FLRC tent. (If you will be borrowing a jersey, wear a blue or black shirt in case we don’t have one in your size.) Aim to get to the start line 5–10 minutes before the race so you can join the team cheer and hear announcements. We have a new team cheer!

After the Race

When you finish running, cheer for any teammates who are still racing. Do a post-race cooldown jog with others on the team. The PGXC series will provide post-race snacks, such as bananas and bagels.

Approximately half an hour after all runners finish, there will be an awards ceremony for individuals and age-group teams. We’ll pack up and leave after that.

We are still working on confirming our team lunch stop for those who want to hang out and enjoy a meal while extending the outing.

See you on Sunday! —Tonya & Adam

@pgxc-flrc @pgxc-high-noon Just a quick clarification. The RunSignup page says that the course for Sunday’s race is at Westvale Golf Course, which is sort of accurate, but the golf course closed a year ago and was bought by the school district. If you look it up in mapping software, you might end up somewhere else. The address to navigate to is below, and it links to a pin showing the parking spot way in back of Walmart and Lowes—the golf course is on the other side of the parking lot from the stores.

The course looks like a headless pregnant person with a tail. And a knife in their back?

@pgxc-flrc @pgxc-high-noon For a post-race lunch tomorrow, we’ve got our own dining room at the Elephant & Dove in Skaneateles, which is about a 20-minute drive from Camillus. They’re located at 9 E. Genesee Street, Skaneateles, NY 13152, and it looks like there’s a big parking lot just north of the restaurant.

Hope you’ll join us to continue the weekend socializing after the race!

Whew! That was a tough one. But many thanks to those who took time out of their cool down to cheer this week! It’s the first race of the season I’ve had people cheering for me and it was very much appreciated.
