Lunch RSVPs, volunteer course marshals, and general logistics for PGXC #4

Hello, @pgxc-flrc and @pgxc-high-noon!

Our home meet is this Sunday, 11/2, at Robert H. Treman State Park’s “Lower Treman” North Pavilion (Google pin shows exact primary parking location, which is the same as for the recent FLRC picnic). There is a $10 parking fee for those without an Empire pass.

Lunch RSVPs Appreciated!

Adam and I are excited to be lunching after the race at Stone Bend Farm, a farm-to-table casual dining restaurant that serves woodfired pizza and craft beer in a large geothermal greenhouse at 196 Porter Hill Road, Newfield, NY 14867. They are happy to accommodate us at 1 PM or later, but are hoping to get a better idea of how many people will be attending.

If you are a “yes” on coming to lunch, text Tonya - 607-275-8383 or reply on the Forum to confirm by 5 PM on Saturday. If you are a “maybe,” that’s okay, and you don’t need to tell us.

More Course Marshals Needed

Thanks to @JesseKoennecke for organizing our home race and setting the course this year. If you have a friend or family member who would enjoy watching the race while volunteering as a course marshal, please have them check HelperHelper for open volunteer slots.

No Carpool This Week

Because the location is close to home, we are not organizing a carpool. If you need a ride or if you wish to reduce the number of cars on the road, please reply to this forum post with your information so a carpool can be self-organized.

Course Map

The 8K race covers varied terrain—grass, pavement, and singletrack. Wear trail shoes— spikes are not recommended. Check out the course map to see the location of the course, pavilion, and recommended parking.

Before the Race

The race starts at 11 AM, so we suggest you arrive at Treman around 10 AM to allow time to pick up your number and get ready to race. You can drop off your stuff and find team members at the FLRC tent. Extra jerseys will be at the tent. (If you don’t already have a jersey, wear a blue or black shirt that you like for racing in case they have all been borrowed before you arrive.) Head to the start line 5–10 minutes before the race to join the team cheer (we have a new cheer) and hear announcements.

After the Race

When you finish running, stay near the finish line to cheer for your teammates—they really do appreciate it! Do a post-race cool-down jog with others on the team. There will be post-race refreshments, provided by the PGXC series, such as bananas and bagels.

A half-hour or so after all runners finish, there will be an awards ceremony for individuals (who win chocolate) and age-group teams (who win beer for our post-season party) that placed well.

And then everyone who wants can join us for pizza at Stone Bend Farm.

See you Sunday!

Thanks Tonya for the lunch arrangements. Sure looking forward to it, Carl

Carl, is Sophie coming? I know she sometimes likes to volunteer.

Thanks for asking Tonya, Sadly she’s in Budapest with our family. Sincerely, Carl
P.S. Glad the weather is looking OK!

I’d like to come to the lunch but I didn’t see much on the menu I wanted to eat. Maybe a slice of vegan pizza if it can be bought by the slice.
