By now, you likely realize that I enjoy writing this first paragraph of my posts about our Thursday Night Social run, but I do want you to know that in writing last week’s post, I felt a shudder whilst writing ‘fall’ instead of autumn. Doesn’t ‘running through autumn leaves’ sound so much better than ‘running through fall leaves’, which just sounds like you’ve made a grammatical error and you meant to write ‘fallen’? I’ll let you ponder that and ask me questions on lexical meaning as we run tomorrow - see you there!
As a reminder, we set up this weekly Thursday 30 minute run from Bike Bar around 18 months ago for students and other younger community around Ithaca to meet up, come for a run without any speed or distance requirements (and maybe afterwards stop for a drink too), and we’ve been meeting at 5:30pm every week since.
If you haven’t yet come to a Thursday night run, this is the perfect time - please reach out to @jennarice or I if you have any questions about coming for the first time, it is always lovely to have new folks attend their first FLRC run! And if you’ve come before, bring a friend!
We typically set off running at 5:45pm, go in differing pace groups for around 30ish minutes, before returning to the bar afterwards - you can decide with the people running with you where you want to go, and how far too. And how long you want to stay after!
Whether it’s hot, cold, rainy or dry, just keep checking and adjust accordingly (we also monitor using the club’s weather policies) - we’ll still be running (and stopping for a drink/ chat after), no matter what. If it’s dark (late October - early March), bring your reflective gear and/or headlamps and ditch your dark clothing!
Everyone is welcome, regardless of ability, pace, or anything else.
This is a free activity and club membership is not required, but please sign the waivers before your first run this year. You only need to sign the waiver once for all 2026 group runs, so if you’ve already signed it, you’re all set if you want to get involved in anything else.
