Welcome to the weekend, @Challengers! The FLRC Challenge community grows every week, and we’re now up to 115 participants, with 67 people having recorded at least one run so far, totaling almost 2,500 miles. That total miles number is extremely helpful when I talk about the Challenge—and FLRC in general—with other trail, club, and political leaders in our area, so please record all your Challenge-eligible runs even if they’re not part of your Personal Challenge. For instance, everyone running the Thom B. Trail Runs tomorrow can record one, two, or even three completions on the Thom B. course. (So, no group run this weekend—see you at Thom B!)
Keep recruiting your friends! I’m planning to place the shirt order on Monday, May 25, so anyone who wants to be sure of getting a shirt should register by then.
My Challenger of the Week award goes to Dennis Stadelman this week. Despite living up near Syracuse, he has been coming down regularly to run multiple courses on each trip (17 so far!), documenting each with photos that remind us just how lovely the area is. And he may singlehandedly be supporting our local ice cream industry, represented here by Laura Morse’s Scoops in Lansing (note the Challenge lawn sign in the background). Thanks for being part of the community, Dennis!
As far as our leaders go, Alex Morgan has moved into first for Most Points for women, followed by Caitlin Loehr and Molly Doruska. There are no changes from last week in Most Points for men or Total Miles, but Pete Kresock is now up to 30 courses total, followed by Dennis Stadelman and Caitlin Loehr. And while it’s way too early to call anything, the @Fantastic-40s and the @Super-60s-70s are neck-in-neck, well ahead of the @Terrific-20s-Teens. The @Fabulous-50s and @Thundering-30s better start recruiting more members and logging more runs!
Beyond Dennis’s great landscapes and ice cream selfies, my favorite photos go to Marie Donnelly and Tonya Engst — let’s get more pictures with your smiling faces!
Until next week, keep covering the ground!
