The weather has finally turned to summer, the trails are drying out, and our Completions page is starting to fill up. In the last week, four people have claimed their medals, including Tristan Lambert, Melanie Smee, Michael Smith, and Shanthi Mariappan—nice running, all! If you’ve had trouble getting started this year because of the rain, now’s the time to make your plan for ticking off all your courses.
We should exceed 1,200 runs tomorrow, and we’re over 5,600 miles—will we be able to break the 10,000-mile mark by September 1? After Black Diamond Cass to Gorge, the two most popular courses are Fall Creek Trails and Lakefront Loops 5K, both of which are pushing toward 800 miles.
Melanie Smee has the best evidence of how the spring mud has receded—check out her shoes after the Abbott Ascent completion that qualified her for her medal.
But post of the week goes to Melissa Plank, for her Runstagram report from Triple Hump today.
There will be no group run this weekend due to the Finger Lakes 50s, but mark your calendars for July 13, when we’ll gather in Danby to run the Abbott Ascent as a group. FLRC Challenge shirts and yard signs will be available for pickup then and at future group runs.
Until next week, keep covering the ground!
