Week #8 of 19 2025 Recap

Our FLRC Challenge shirts are here, and they look great—the colors are fabulous. The best way to get yours is to come to the group run on Saturday on the Black Diamond Cass to Gorge course. We have some extra shirts available for sale if you didn’t order one during registration. They’ll be available for pickup at other club events like next Tuesday’s track meet and future workouts, but if you’d prefer to pick up an ordered shirt at the running store, let me know.

The weather just isn’t giving up, but even with the rain and air quality issues, we increased our numbers to 888 total runs and nearly 4,300 miles. A bunch of those miles came from Gill Haines-Sharp, who completed the first Tough Tarmac Challenge of the year on Saturday, and Steve Jesch, who filed our third Tough Trail Challenge completion of the year that same day. They’ll be getting special mini-sign awards at the end. And then Mike Allinger became our ninth overall finisher. Nice running, all!

It was great to see so many people submitting Lakefront Loops times after running the Twilight 5K (which had 398 finishers, the third most ever) and Black Diamond Cass to Park times in the middle of the Gorges Half Marathon.

The theme for photos this week is “thinking about others,” with kudos to Ruth Sproul for moving this guy off the road on Lakefront Loops.

And to Ryan Jacobsen, who passed up the opportunity for a fast Lakefront Loops time at Twilight 5K to run with his little sister in her first race ever.

See you Saturday, and I’m sure mud season will soon be behind us.

I second the shout-out to Ryan … a good-hearted big brother, and congrats to lil’ sis’ on her first race! And I’m sure all participants were grateful for the beautiful weather.

On a different note, if you’re contemplating Abbot Ascent anytime soon, you might want to hold off for a bit, unless you really like mud, that is. Survived it Friday, in spite of lots of “soupy” spots, many of which I had to simply plow through. (only fell once though, fortunately not in a mud bath).

Is it possible to exchange my medium tank for a small? It’s noticeably bigger than other mediums that I’ve gotten from USA Racing in the past.

That’s a little troubling—I’ll have to check some of the others.

Unfortunately, I don’t have any more tank tops in small, just a couple of mediums and a large. I do have a few extra racerback tanks that are supposedly fitted for women, but I suppose it’s possible they would fit men, too.

The straight-fit T-shirt that I got seemed standard, and I do have one extra small and several extra medium T-shirts.

I’ll bring stuff to weights tonight so you can try a few.
