You’re Invited to Run Cross Country with FLRC/High Noon This Fall

If you miss running cross-country from high school or want to compete on a racing team where everyone counts, join the FLRC/High Noon team as we race in the Pete Glavin Cross Country (PGXC) series this fall. Check out the flyer (scroll way down) for essential details or read on.

The PGXC series has five races spread across upstate New York, with teams from places like Rochester, Buffalo, Syracuse, and Auburn. Our home meet will be at Treman State Park this year. You can join us for all five races, just one race, or anywhere in between.

I am so impressed with what our community has achieved in this series. Not only do we typically take home racing wins (chocolate for individuals, beer for teams, and glory for all) while competing against some of the fastest runners in upstate New York, we also support the efforts of everyone on the team, no matter where they place in the race. We have age-group sub-teams from age 11 up into the 70s, and typically about 100 people join us for at least one race each season. We carpool and get to know one another, and we stop for post-race lunches at breweries, creperies, and other attractions.

Because of the way points work, we need lots of runners. People sometimes worry that they aren’t fast enough and they will make the team do worse. That is not possible. The only way you can make the team do worse is to not come.

We’ve updated the PGXC Cross-Country Teams page with 2025 registration directions and other essential information—including race dates and locations. Follow all the directions to ensure that you are fully on the team—we need to get you on the roster and include you in carpool and party information! If you have questions, please reach out to me (FLRC head captain) or Adam (High Noon head captain), or your age-group team captain (listed on the PGXC Cross-Country Teams page).

Optional Tuesday night team workouts have begun at the Cornell Botanic Gardens. Watch the Group Runs category on the FLRC Forum for details.

See you on the run,

—Tonya & Adam (FLRC/High Noon team captains)
