2025 FLRC Challenge Completions

@Challengers Such a nice day for it! Congrats to Bella Burda for completing her Challenge remotely yesterday, and to Matt Clark, Michelle Woods, and Kim Jackson for finishing off their final courses.

@Challengers What a bunch of completions! Congrats to Sarah Von Schrader, Rachel Bezner Kerr, Molly Doruska, Verity Platt, Rebecca Lambert, Julie Cooper, Daniela Graffeo, Evelyn Goldwasser, and Marie Donnelly for finishing off their final courses and claiming their coveted finisher’s medals. We’re now at 59 finishers!

And in the final week battle for podium spots, Chris Petroff has moved into third for Most Points with just Cayuga Cliffs to go, so completing that will move him into second. Also, Patrick Milano reclaimed the top age grade spot from Sarah Woodyear by running a fast Fall Creek Trails to lower his time significantly there.

@Challengers A few more completions yesterday and today, plus one that backfilled from Sunday—congrats to Dirk Swart, Chris Petroff, Jamie Loehr, and Caitlin Loehr for finishing off their final courses. We’re now at 63 finishers.

As I predicted yesterday, Chris Petroff running what turned out to be the second-fastest Cayuga Cliffs so far moved him into second place for Most Points, though Ryan Jacobsen, currently in third, could bump him down with a sufficiently fast North Country Half. Also unsurprising was Caitlin Loehr moving into first for Age Grade, where she is so far undefeated across the history of the Challenge.

My Cayuga Cliffs time was the fastest when I ran it, but Sarah and Seth beat it 11 hours later. I guess its only fair given that I let Sarah’s Abbott Ascent record stand for just under 24 hours.

Keep the completions flowing in, @Challengers! Today’s finishers are Bill Begeal and Elizabeth Rechtin, both 55 and doing their bit to help the @Fabulous-50s toward their first team victory in five years. Also, Julie Cooper posted a run from Sunday that completed her Challenge as well. Nice work, all! So far, 65 finishers have completed their courses, with another 32 people having three courses or fewer to complete.

Five more completions yesterday and today, @Challengers! Congrats to Kaitlyn McGarvey, Columbia Warren, Bob Talda, Iris Packman, andf Melissa Plank for completing their courses and claiming their medals. We’re now at 70 finishers!

As a reminder, we’ll be awarding medals at the FLRC picnic on September 18 (please RSVP!) but if you can’t make it, I’ll put your medal in the FLRC pickup box at the running store or you can make other arrangements to get it from me, such as at a Tuesday night workout.

@Challengers Congrats to 18-year-old Ryan Jacobsen for completing his first Challenge in style! Ryan is our youngest full Challenge finisher so far this year (Aidan Lazzaro has four courses to go, which is doable but not a good idea as his IHS XC season starts), and he’s also firmly ensconced in third place for overall points and eight for age grade.

And kudos to Yamil Molina, who finished his second Challenge by knocking off the Sweet 1600 after running Monster last weekend.

Two more completions today, @Challengers! Congratulations to Diana Hackett, who claimed her medal by finishing off the Sweet 1600, like so many others, and to Matthew Plank, who focused hard to complete five courses in the last three days. That’s covering the ground!

Wait! After I posted this, but before it went out in email, Julie Barclay also finished! She started on the late side, registering her first course on July 17, but once August rolled around, she put her legs in gear and ticked off the remaining nine courses, finishing with Mulholland Waterfalls this afternoon.

So sorry I can’t make it to the picnic, @adamengst. Thank you for your uplifting Challenge completion emails and for the easy the medal pickup option at the running store! Congratulations to all completers out there!

Another good set of completions since last time, @Challengers. Congrats to Jon Lewis, Bill Thibault, Sarah Caddy, Meng Wang, Dina Maxwell, Maddie Dorward, and Christian Lincoln. We’re now up to 82 finishers out of 157, with another 15 people with only one or two courses left in the last two days.
