Couch to 5K 2026 - Week 2

We’re on to Week 2 already, and looking forward to seeing you tomorrow Monday, April 20, at 6.00pm. We will meet at the Large Pavilion in Stewart Park.

  • Please remember to bring water, and it might be good to bring a small snack for afterwards.
  • The weather will be a little chillier than last week, so make sure to bring a warm layer for running, and another warm layer to put on once we’re finished.
  • We will start off with introductions as we do some dynamic stretches, then a short brisk walk before the workout.

This week’s workout will be 6 x (90s run / 2mins walk). For those of you that want to look at the whole plan, please click here.

If you are coming along to the Monday group workouts, you will need to register via Webscorer so that you can sign our group runs waiver. If you are just following along with the plan but exercising individually, you don’t need to register via Webscorer.

See you tomorrow!

D & H

A hardy group braved the bitter winds this evening! Trying to make sure no one froze, we skipped our mini topic. We hope to cover it another week, and you can review it here.

Running etiquette and safety.

Running on the road:

  • Run against traffic
  • Wear bright colors, especially at dawn and dusk
  • Run single file
  • Vary your routes and times you run, let someone know where you are running and how long you think you will be gone
  • Position wisely on blind curves and hills
  • Wise to bring your phone in case of emergencies and share your location with a reliable person

Running on paved paths/trails/urban settings:

  • “On your left” – announce your presence especially when it’s dark out and when passing others
  • Don’t make people have to step off the trail if you’re running more than 1 abreast
  • Downhill yields to uphill
  • No speakers, when using headphones use bone conductor or only one earbud
  • Use sidewalks and crosswalks
  • Stay to the right
